Four days into the school year and already so much has
happened! 5:30AM Tuesday morning came fast. Mama and I got up, woke up Tae to
get him in the shower. While he was in the shower I tossed his outfit in the dryer
to warm up and headed to KwikTrip to get some chocolate milk and doughnuts for
the kids. If you’ve never had KwikTrip chocolate milk and their glazed
doughnuts, you’ve never had good chocolate milk. When I got home, Tae and
Marcus were showered, lined up and smellin’ fresh. Aysia was waiting for her
turn to jump in the shower and have her hair done. Quickly they ate and we got
Miss Aysia ready for school. Back packs on and snacks in the front pocket, out
the door they headed to climb into our Mini Van. After a short drive to the New
Lisbon Elementary School, mom (me) realized she’d forgotten to put the sim card
back into the camera. Well, 10 photo’s max, crap. Let’s make them good! I think
we caught a few good ones.
Kace and I ran down to Tomah and did a few things, went home
and picked up Khianna, aka Bean. We then headed to The Dells to hit up the
craft store to get beads for the girls’ hair. Let me tell you, when looking for
a threader for hair, it’s not simple. Thank God for YouTube. We were able to
find several video’s that showed us how to thread the beads onto hair without
an actual threader. String. I ended up using yarn, because well, it’s what I have
for my crafting. In the end, I am actually using fishing line, it may be clear,
but it’s stronger and doesn’t fall apart on me after being used several times.
So the kids took the bus home from school, and turns out their
bus driver Jason got a new bus this year. So unfortunately for the kids they do
not get to have their after school snack on the bus anymore. Sucks for them, it’s
over and hour bus ride. We sat down in our bedroom calling one child in at a
time, for it to be quiet and so they could talk without interruption, so they
could tell us about their day.
First was Dontae. He had an awesome day filled with treats
and playing name bingo! He seems to like his new teacher Mrs. Knee and his
classmates. Next was Aysia. She was all smiles, had a great day wearing her
knee high boots, enjoying herself in her new class and meeting new people. She
said her teacher Mrs. Clark is nice, but something happened in the early
afternoon and she had to leave quickly. So, Mr. Tolle the principle had to come
in and teach the class for the rest of the afternoon. We still do not know what happened, but we can
assume it had to do with her family, but she was back the next day, so it must
not have been something horrible. Last was Marcus. He said he had a fun filled
day with his new teacher Mrs. Tucker. The class was cool, and he had a few
friends from his class from last year so he was even more excited. Each teacher
sent home letters telling us about themselves, how long they’ve been teaching
and what we are to expect in the upcoming school year. No homework for any of
the kids on the first day of school, thank goodness, but there were A LOT of
papers to go through in their homework folders.
After our little chats with each child, I went off to one of
my favorite places, the kitchen to cook dinner. Mama and
Aysia split to the bathroom to condition Aysias hair one more time before blow
drying her hair straight to get started. I made chicken fettuccini Alfredo with
garlic bread. After blow drying her hair straight, Kace got some sections
parted and greased to start braiding. Braid by braid, we slipped beads on the
ends and with a lot of trial and error we got the tying off the beaded braid down.
It seems very simple to do so, but because Aysia is mixed, her hair is not the
same, so we have a bit more to do to it to get it to stay properly. 16 braids
later and Aysia was falling asleep, poor girl she’s tired and ready for bed.
So, we pulled the rest of her hair up and snapped a few pictures. Then off to
bed with her to join her brothers and sister, while “The Mom’s” watch the first
night of the DNC. Michelle Obama was amazing, classy and she couldn’t of given
a better speech then the one she delivered Tuesday night.
Wednesday the kids got up and got ready for school like the first. Off they
go out the door to the bus. They are so excited to go to another day of school.
I remember those days, when I was actually EXCITED for school. When they got
home they had their snack and Aysia sat down to have some more braids done
while I started to get dinner ready. We were
supposed to have a BBQ but it was raining, so we had cheesy hot dogs, chips and
potato salad (Homemade, I’ve turned some non-potato salad eaters into lovers
with this one!). After dinner, off the
bed the kiddo’s went while Mama and I sat and watched the DNC. Bill Clinton
gave a very powerful speech that was clear, precise and direct. Not a single
false word out of his mouth. Learn the Arithmetic Romney and Ryan. Go Blue!!
Thursday morning started much
like the others, though we switched it up now. Marcus showers the night before,
so we don’t have to wake up at 4:45 to make sure everyone is showered and ready
to go on time. School bus arrives at 7. 3 kiddo’s and one bathroom, a small bathroom
mind you, is not an easy task. Kids got home from school, did homework and then
Kace and I decided that what we’d originally decided on dinner just did not
sound good anymore. So, off to the store I went to get everything to make taco
salads before DNC started. No hair for Aysia tonight, she was tired and Mom and
I had DNC on our minds. President Obama was speaking tonight. This is it, the
big one. We couldn’t wait! I made homemade taco salads all the way down to the
shells themselves. It was yummy. We got the kids in bed and then snuggled on
the couch and watched the last night of the DNC. Amazing! There is so much I
could say about everything that has been said at the DNC. But I’m going to put
it in only a few simple words. Each and every speech was factual, truthful and
well delivered. They were not hateful (unlike the Republican’s speeches) and
beautifully said. I am going to stop now because I will ramble on about it.
Amazing. That’s all I have to say.
Friday alike we got the kids
ready and off to school they went. We made homemade mac’n’cheese with hamburger
for dinner, watched pranks online and pulled a few ourselves. Got Marcus with
the spoon game and tried to get him with polish arm wrestling, but he wouldn’t
pull right. *Sad face.* Kids played while Kace worked on Aysias hair a bit
more, the kids have pictures Tuesday (Aysia & Marcus) and Wednesday (Dontae),
so she decided to not finish the top of Aysias head so it doesn’t get ruined.
We snapped a few more pictures of Marcus and Aysia and off to bed they went.
Now, here we sit tired Mommies ready to go snuggle in bed and watch some
movies. Let’s hope the kiddos will sleep in a bit in the morning. 5:30 is sure
early.
